My wife and I pulled our credit reports and went over them together before we got married. We wanted to make sure that there weren’t going to be any surprises. I think this is something everyone should do before the commit to a long term relationship just because people need to know what they are getting into.

That being said, my opinion is dependent on why and how he pulled it. If they have been together for a long time and she hasn’t wanted him to see her report, I don’t really blame him for being wary. I’m not saying he did the right thing, but that he was right to want to see it.

If it was a fairly new relationship, i’d worry about his intentions, and maybe put a fraud alert on my report to protect myself (everyone should do this anyway).

I definitely think those people have trust issues they need to resolve.

I agree with Gem. had had to get her info- ss# etc from somewhere. It doesn’t matter if they are dating, it is still illegal for him to do this. I would question him and contact the proper authorities because he is obviously up to no good.

First of all, if I were her, I would show him the door and how to use it.
He just might have messed her up due to the fact that unless he used the only free agency (annualcreditreport.com) she might find her credit card being charged every month.
The one advertising on TV gives you only 7 days to cancel (freecreditreport.com) and like all the others (which are tied in with the CRA’s) once you get the report, it is hard to cancel.

Unless he knew everything about her finances, then I doubt he used the free one, he must have used her credit card to purchase one, and now she is on the hook

Send him packing, because he may just be trying to use her identity to gain something.

It’s one thing to do this because you’re doing a background check and you tell them and it’s authorized by you. It’s entirely another when it’s done behind your back. I would suspect fraud. I would have to confront the person that ordered the report without my knowledge.

i would be curious on why they would need to know for one..and plus that they did it behind my back…your credit can get messed up from checkin ur credit too often..i would have at least wanted it to be discussed before they went behind my back with my personal information to get the credit report.

Wow, first I would figure out how the boyfriend got my social security number and other info needed for those reports.

Then, if he didn’t get my permission, I would can his butt and file a police report because odds are good that he is getting ready to scam her.
