Before you waste your money on credit repair companies, try doing it yourself. It just takes some research.
Start with these.
Go to the FTC site and read the Fair Credit Reporting Act……you are not going to win this game unless you know the rules.
And remember, if these items on your credit report are accurate, and if the creditor does everything they are supposed to do, there is very little you can do to get these items removed.
Do not waste any money with a Credit Repair Agency. They do nothing that you can’t do yourself with a little time and effort. Why trust anyone else with your personal information if you don’t have to?
My credit has increased 100 pts in 8 months and I did it all myself.
You can definitely do a lot of stuff yourself. Like others have mentioned in their answers, you gotta do some serious research first. Go to the library, or find a good book on the internet. There is a free book at that is pretty good. It’s about 30 pages long and has form letters in it. There are tons of good books at the library as well.
Once you’ve done your research, and before you start sending letters to the credit bureaus, you will have to decide if your problems are really complex (like, do you have a bunch of accounts in collections?) or do you just have a few errors on your credit report? If your problems are simple, then you can definitely fix them yourself and save money. If your problems are complex, you may need to bit the bullet and pay an expert.
Good luck…
Check out the source website. They charge you a one-time fee of $395 instead of milking you for monthly fees until the end of time. My mom used it and not only was able to open other accounts, but her score jumped 51 points.
why pay money for something that you can do yourself, all it takes is time and a lot of reading. it can be done with sites like
everything you need to know is there. save your money.
