Different regions of the country use one over the others. Different companies as well.
You would contact all three.
I suggest contacting all three, though someone posted contacting Trans union would result in a report to all three I’m not so sure.
The only difference is the secret credit method they use to score you. There are two being used, and credit bureaus may use both, one of the best kept secrets of the last sixty years, or so. One is fico, the other is Fair Isaac.
Most of us in counseling have a general idea of the scoring process, but the exact, absolutely exact point accumulations, and minuses are known only to the bureaus.
One other difference may be that certain creditors, lenders, landlords, job inquiries may use this one, or that one. That is why it is important when requesting a correction it be done on all three. Here are the phone nums for you hope this helps; Experian 888-397-3742, Equifax 800-525-6285, 800-680-7289, Trans-Union.
Some people are becoming very resentful of credit bureaus, as George Orwell’s 1984 arrived a long time ago. They are controversial lately for accepting debt and putting it on their records even if it is over seven years old. They get paid to put it on, and do not check it if it is correct or not, after seven years a record should be deleted by law. Factoring, the buying and selling of debts, such a big business now, that even ancient debts being purchased and put on cr bureas with the hope it will come up when you go to buy a car , or rent an apt. Rather than go thru the dispute process the owner of the debt is hoping it would be easier for you to just pay it, especially if it is not a big debt.
New regulations necessary for credit bureaus, as they are putting out a lot of false info in the age of identity theft, and debt buying and selling. There should be some verification process, before debts are reported, especially if the ownership changes hands.
